Last Night on Earth

Drink in the abundant hits on Noah & the Whale’s third album—the thrumming FM rock of “Tonight’s The Kind Of Night”, say—and you may well guess that band leader Charlie Fink once embarked on a formative teenage road trip around the US. Dripping rustbelt Americana and youthful euphoria (see synthy adolescent love letter “Give It All Back”), Last Night on Earth deftly balances fond nostalgia with a sharp cinematic eye. Ambitious, effortlessly hooky, and utterly joyous.
