"XI is a series of compact discs curated by David Behrman, Phill Niblock, and Lois V. Vierk. The series highlights the music of contemporary artist-composers whose self-produced works are original and galvanizing, yet whose recordings, if any, are few. The intent of XI is to extend these engaging and pioneering works beyond the performance space into the home." (series statement) XI was renamed XI Records around 1998.
