In 1977, the Chins moved from Jamaica and opened up a store at 170-03 Jamaica Avenue, and then 170-21 Jamaica Avenue in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York. The label is named after Vincent and his wife Patricia (). With the acquisition of Greensleeves Records, VP controls more than 25,000 titles. It was named 1999 Billboard reggae label of the year.
