US record label co-founded by and in 1959; originally owned by . Label Code: LC 30452. The Takoma story began in 1959 in the Washington, DC suburb of Takoma Park, Maryland when Fahey borrowed $300 and pressed 100 copies of his now-legendary 186587. By 1963 Fahey and Denson had moved to California. The label's diverse roster included blues guitarist (who the partners had rediscovered in Mississsippi), electronics pioneer , beat poet , bluegrass musician , guitarist , and '1043971' by and (which was known as 's favorite record). Denson, who went on to become the manager of , sold his stake in the label to Fahey and later founded another label with . In 1979 purchased the label, selling it in 1983. In 1995 purchased the Takoma catalog from . Takoma became part of Concord Music Group in the mid-2000s after Fantasy merged with Concord Records, Inc.
