Postcard Records
About
Postcard Records of Scotland - The Sound of Young Scotland Launched in Glasgow in 1979, Postcard Records came into being on the back of the 1970s punk explosion and quickly became one of the most feted independent labels in Britain. Founder Alan Horne helped launch the careers of both Orange Juice (3), featuring Edwyn Collins and Aztec Camera, but the departure of both acts to major labels led to the label's demise in 1981, after releasing just a dozen singles and one album, the latter by Edinburgh's Josef K. Planned releases by The Bluebells and others were shelved. In 1992, Horne reactivated the label and released an Orange Juice compilation album, alongside new releases from Paul Quinn, Vic Godard and The Nectarine No. 9. The label ceased again in the mid 1990s, but in 2021, now based in Dundee, released a comprehensive box set of the solo work of Paul Quinn. For unofficial releases using the identity of this label, see Postcard records (2).
