American independent jazz label established in Los Angeles, California, launched by producer/impresario Norman Granz on February 4, 1954, to ease distribution bottlenecks at his Clef Records label. Absorbed into Granz' Verve Records in 1956. Norgran's initial artist roster comprised , , , , , , , , , and . Norgran's initial release schedule was LPs on the first of each month, and EPs and singles on the 15th of each month. Some releases may display "muenster-dummel Hi-Fi recording" emblem on the cover. This is a marketing gimmick only, not a credit or series, and may be added to the release notes: "muenster-dummel Hi-Fi recording" emblem on front cover. (Example: [r=7342034])
