Sub-label of Sony Music Records Inc. owned by the late Eiichi Ohtaki. It began in 1975 as a sub-label of ELEC records. After Elec's bankruptcy in 1976 it passed to Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd., then in 1981 CBS/Sony Inc. (later Sony Music Records Inc.) 'Niagara' is a reference to Ohtaki's surname, 大瀧, which means 'big waterfall'
