Label started by brothers Joe Cayre, Stan Cayre & Ken Cayre. Mericana Records was a secondary label subsidiary and sub-distribution unit of Caytronics Records Corp., which served as the launchpad for Salsoul Records during its first two years in existence. From 1975 ownwards the more traditional sounds were released on the rebranded Mericana Silver Series, whilst the younger fresh stars were shifted over to Salsoul Records briefly, before the roster was split with the Mericana roster moving over to the newly formed , aiming to keep their dominant hold on the Latin music market.
