About
London American Recordings is regarded as a sub-label of UK Decca's London Records label. Created in 1954, in the UK the label introduced a new catalogue number prefix (HL) and a catalogue number sequence (starting with 8001). It was dedicated to the catalogues of a range of US independent labels licensed by Decca for release outside North America, including Atlantic, Liberty, Cadence, Dot, Jamie, Sun, Chess, Speciality, Warwick, Imperial, United Artists, Greenwich, Sunbeam, Paris, Dore, Arwin, Judd and many others. Some of these were soon given their own unique sub-labels. Many Dutch releases have London American Recording on the label, not London American Recordings.
