Originally known as Miracle Records, the name changed in 1962 to avoid confusion with The Miracles singing group. Numbering system combined with those of Motown and Gordy in 1982. Merged with Motown in 1988. Now part of the Universal Music Group along with its parent label. There were two primary label designs: The initial label versions shows the Gordy brand on top, with a yellow circle incl. the wording "It's What's In The Grooves That Counts". This version was in use till 1968. The successor label had the yellow wedge with the Gordy brand to the left. Label Code = LC 0227
