Defunct MCA Records worldwide sublabel founded early 1979, folded into MCA in 1983. Headed by Danny Bramson, and distributed by MCA Distributing Corporation. The label's initial signing, in October 1979, was Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, following MCA's January 31, 1979, acquisition of ABC Records and its artists. Its roster eventually included Men Without Hats and Nils Lofgren. The label was named as such "for acts who want the security and shelter of back streets as opposed to the more crowded thoroughfares."
