The record company was active for a long time on Möllevången, more specifically Ystadsgatan 22, together with Garderobsteatern, but in 1984 they moved to more fashionable premises on Hamngatan 4. Amalthea was bought in 1993 by MNW in Vaxholm. Amalthea in the record company's name refrs to the ship Amalthea, which was blown up by Young Socialist activists in 1908 for housing English strike breakers. This resulted in some of the last death sentences in Sweden, sentences which, however, were converted to life imprisonment.
