About
Melbourne-based group The Indelible Murtceps emerged in October 1971 as a dance-oriented side project, stripping down their parent band’s sound to craft a more accessible pop and dance repertoire. The outfit featured electric piano and guitar-driven arrangements designed specifically for the dance floor, distinguishing their approach from the more experimental work of their main project.
Active through the early 1970s, The Indelible Murtceps operated as a leaner, more direct vehicle for dance music until the project concluded in 1973 alongside their primary band’s dissolution. Though short-lived, the group’s focus on dance-floor functionality helped bridge progressive rock and electronic pop sensibilities during a formative period for Australian electronic music.
