Paralandra was a progressive rock ensemble from Nova Scotia that emerged in the late 1970s with a focus on crafted original compositions. The group featured a dynamic lineup including Bob Atkinson on guitars, Steve Bagnell on saxophones, Terry David Després on vocals, Kurt Haughn on keyboards, and Glenn Wright on drums and vocals, with bass duties handled by Kevin Atwood and later Mike Connors. Known for their meticulous approach to songwriting and arrangement, the band prioritized studio work and composition over live performance.
The group released the single "Play It Safe / Make The Move" in 1980 on Parallel Records before disbanding shortly thereafter. While their recording output was limited, band members continued to pursue musical careers individually—Glenn Wright went on to perform and record with Quadrant, while Kurt Haughn explored new age compositions, demonstrating the diverse musical directions the collective's members would pursue.
