UK experimental techno duo Vulva emerged in 1993 with a bold, forward-thinking approach to electronic music. Formed by Tim Hutton and Thomas Melchior, the pair quickly established themselves within the cutting-edge underground scene by signing to Rephlex Records—the legendary imprint home to Aphex Twin and other pioneers of experimental techno. Their early output, including the *Mini Space Vulvette* EP for Reflective Records, showcased their distinctive sound rooted in abstract, boundary-pushing techno aesthetics.
Throughout the mid-1990s, Vulva solidified their reputation with a series of critically acclaimed releases. Their second full-length, *Birdwatch* (1996), and the subsequent *Vulvic Yonification* (1997) further demonstrated their commitment to experimental production and sonic innovation.
