About

Dead Man Ray, hailing from Berchem near Antwerp, Belgium, stands out in the alternative rock scene since their formation in 1996. The band, featuring a dynamic lineup including Daan Stuyven, Rudy Trouvé, Elko Blijweert, Wouter Van Belle, and initially Herman Houbrechts (later replaced by Karel De Backer), quickly made waves with their debut album "Berchem" in 1998. The album, known for hits like "Chemical" and "Beegee," showcased their knack for blending intricate melodies with a mix of electronic and rock elements, setting a precedent for their innovative sound.

Their musical journey took a distinctive turn with the creation of a partially new soundtrack for the movie "At the Drop of A Head" in 1999, further cementing their versatility and creative prowess in integrating storytelling with music. This project led to a highly successful tour across Belgium and the Netherlands. Following this, Dead Man Ray released "Trap" in 2000, incorporating some of the cinematic project's songs, and ventured to Chicago in 2002 to record "Cago" with acclaimed producer Steve Albini. Each project marked a significant evolution in their sound, pushing the boundaries of alternative rock with electronic inflections and solidifying Dead Man Ray's legacy in the music scene.
