About

Schubert-Band was an East German electronic music group active in the early 1980s, representing the emerging synth-pop and electronic music scene of the region. Built around Sieghart Schubert's distinctive keyboard work, the band combined synthesizer-driven arrangements with Katrin Lindner's vocals, creating a sound that blended new wave sensibilities with the experimental electronic production characteristic of East German music at the time.

The group's lineup—featuring Michael "Leo" Lehrmann on guitar, Michael Schiemann or Alexander Schloussen on bass, and Ralph Weber on drums—created a bridge between keyboard-centric synth-pop and live band instrumentation. Though their active period was brief (1981-1982), Schubert-Band contributed to the distinctive electronic music culture emerging from East Germany during this pivotal era of synthesizer adoption and new wave innovation.
