Joey Santiago is a guitarist and composer best known as co-founder and lead guitarist of alternative rock pioneers Pixies, active since 1986. His distinctive angular guitar work and compositional approach have been instrumental in shaping the band's influential sound, which blended post-punk energy with experimental production techniques that would later influence electronic and alternative music producers worldwide.

Beyond Pixies, Santiago has maintained an active solo career, contributing to film and television scores while collaborating with former bandmates including Frank Black. He resumed his pivotal role as the band's lead guitarist following their 2004 reunion, continuing to perform and record with Pixies through the present day.
