About

Belgian brass collective Va Fan Fahre emerged in 2003, crafting a distinctive fusion of Balkan brass, klezmer, and world music influences. The ensemble's signature sound blends traditional Eastern European instrumentation with contemporary arrangements—layering ska rhythms, jazzy improvisations, and funky grooves over thoughtful brass orchestrations. Their 2005 debut *Romski Robbery* earned international recognition, charting at #127 on the World Music Charts Europe and establishing the group as innovators in the Balkan-influenced brass scene.

The group's evolution continued with their second album *Zet je maar*, which expanded their sonic palette beyond Balkan roots to incorporate global influences from Rajasthan, Morocco, and Colombia through collaborations with international vocalists and musicians. Va Fan Fahre's work has been featured on compilations including *Gypsy Garden Vol. 2*, *Balkanbeats Vol. 2*, and *Flamundo Vol. 2*, while their live presence spans major European festivals including Sfinks, Dranouter, and the Wiener Festwochen, establishing them as key players in contemporary world music and brass ensemble innovation.
