Brothers Greg and Phil Boynton formed Dagaband in 1973, establishing themselves as a dynamic live act throughout their initial run from 1973 to 1987. Based in Chesterfield, England, the group built a reputation as a touring ensemble, performing at legendary venues including Ronnie Scott's in London, the Marquee, and international clubs like the Zoom Club in Frankfurt. They supported notable acts including Marillion, The Enid, Budgie, and Vivian Stanshall during their active years.
Despite their extensive touring schedule, Dagaband's recorded output remained limited to a single and EP, with the group primarily known through live bootlegs. The band reunited briefly in 2010 with intentions to finally document their material on a full album, though this project was ultimately not completed. Dagaband's legacy rests on their energetic live presence and their role in the progressive music circuit of the 1970s and 1980s.
