About
Rick Stevens is an industrial electronics pioneer who has shaped the harsh techno and noise landscape since the early 1990s. Operating primarily under the moniker Hypnoskull, Stevens synthesizes uncompromising analog electronics with aggressive rhythm structures, creating a distinctive sound rooted in techno-industrial and noise aesthetics. His breakthrough came with the landmark albums *Rhythmusmaschine 1-2* (1998), *Ffwd>Burnout!* (1999), and *Electronic Music Means War To Us* (2001), which established him as a key figure in the international industrial underground.
Beyond Hypnoskull, Stevens maintains an prolific output across multiple sonic identities. He co-founded the hardcore Belgian industrial project Sonar and collaborates with artists including Mieke M. (Tunnel) and Raoul Roucka (Noisex) in the project Cybernetic:Fuckheadz. His numerous solo ventures—including Sona Eact®, Reset, Sliding Elements, Trivial Gender, and 33MHz—showcase his versatility within the industrial and experimental electronic spectrum, with releases distributed across a global network of independent and specialized labels.
