About
Witches Valley was a Parisian experimental group active from 1986 to 1992, known for blending country-punk aesthetics with avant-garde electronic textures. Led by Jeremy Prophet on vocals and guitar alongside Kim Ohio Fuzz’s inventive bass work, the band created a distinctive sound that incorporated noise elements, organ, and unconventional instrumentation. Their approach challenged genre conventions, layering acoustic and electronic elements in ways that presaged alternative and experimental music trends of the era.
The group’s fluid lineup—featuring rotating members including guitarist Stéphane Marin (Angry Hungry), organists Zorka Defrance and Delphines de Versailles, and various drummers—reflected their collaborative, exploratory ethos. This revolving-door approach allowed Witches Valley to continually evolve their sonic palette, incorporating organ-driven arrangements and textural noise experimentation that set them apart from their contemporaries. Though their active period was relatively brief, the band’s willingness to merge disparate musical traditions contributed to Paris’s vibrant underground experimental scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
