Dutch musician and recording engineer based in Amsterdam, Alex Roelofs is best known as a founding member of The Nits, the influential Dutch rock band he helped establish in 1974. A versatile bassist and keyboardist, Roelofs contributed to the band's distinctive sound before departing in 1981 to pursue studio work and production.
Beyond his work with The Nits, Roelofs has maintained an active solo career under the moniker A•L•X, releasing the album *Tenderness Of Cranes* in 1989. He has also collaborated with fellow musician Michiel Peters—another former Nits member—on the 2009 project *Michiel & Alex*, which resulted in the album *The Odd Men Out (On The Poppy Parade)*. Throughout his career, Roelofs has balanced his roles as performer, engineer, and studio operator, establishing himself as a respected figure in the Dutch music production landscape.
